Coronavirus: help and support

Support for customers impacted by coronavirus (COVID-19)

As the impact of coronavirus is felt across the UK, you may have concerns about how it could affect you and your money.

We've put in place some additional support and information to help.

Managing your money

If your income has been affected by the disruption from the coronavirus, we have made the below changes to help you:

  • Emergency access to savings in fixed term accounts without charge.
  • Mortgage Payment Holidays - Customers whose income has been impacted by Covid-19 may be offered payment holidays for up to 3 months. This applies to all Birmingham Midshires customers regardless of whether you have a Buy to Let mortgage or Residential mortgage.
We're currently dealing with a much larger number of calls than usual. The quickest way for you to apply is online at bmmortgages.co.uk.

If you would like to apply for a mortgage payment holiday or to extend an existing one, you need to do so by 31st October 2020.

After this date, there will still be support available which will be tailored to your individual circumstances, but this may impact your credit file.

If you're worried about your financial situation because of coronavirus, please contact us.

Stay fraud safe

Remember, your money is safe in your account. People are using the coronavirus outbreak as an opportunity to try new scams by email, call and text.

We'll never call, email or text and ask you to:

  • Share your account details like user ID, password and memorable information.
  • Move money to another account.

If you think you have been a victim of fraud, call us anytime on: 0345 602 2828.

FSCS – protecting your money. Find out more here.

Gross rate means that we will not deduct tax automatically from your interest. You are responsible for paying any tax due to HM Revenue and Customs.

AER means Annual Equivalent Rate. AER illustrates what your interest rate would be if interest was paid and compounded each year and allows you to easily compare different offers.

Tax free is the contractual rate of interest payable where interest is exempt from income tax.

For telephone line opening times, please read the information in our contact section. Calls may be monitored and recorded for security and training purposes. If you're calling from outside the UK, please dial +441902 428 311.
