Watching out for fraud

Watch out for these email cons

Phishing emails are becoming more and more common. Phishing happens when fraudsters impersonate a well established financial organisation.

The fraudsters send false emails, designed to trick people into revealing their personal details.

We never ask for your details

Birmingham Midshires will never ask you to send your personal details by email. And we'll never send an email that asks you to login to update your personal information.

If you receive a phishing email, don't click on any links it contains - even if it says you need to take immediate action. Delete the email right away, without opening it or any attachments.

Trojans and spyware

Trojans and spyware are malicious software programmes that can be downloaded without you knowing. They record information about your computer activity, and can be used by hackers to capture your login information.

An up-to-date antivirus programme is essential to detect trojans before they harm your computer. There are a number of free and commercial software programmes that claim to be able to remove these threats from your computer.

If you're suspicious

If you're ever concerned about any suspicious activity on your account, call us as soon as possible on 0345 602 2828. Lines are open 8am - 8pm Monday - Saturday.
